Hey! Did you hear what greyn was saying on Mar 29 ?

g> > > /etc/conf.modules
g> > > alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
g> > > options parport_pc io=0x378 irq=7
g> > > This will make your printer /dev/lp0.
g>
g> I tried adding these lines but I didn't notice any changes. I am loading
g> the parallel printer as a module but maybe my parallel port Iomega Zip is
g> interfering? What exactly does the "no interfaces" mean?

Its telling you that it has loaded the printer driver but it can't
find any printer ports.

You may have to include "Parallel Port IDE Device Support" in your
kernel its in "Block Devices" and "Parallel Port Support" in "General
Setup". Also have a read of /usr/src/linux/Documentation/parport.txt.
There's a good chance you'll have to change the options parport_pc line in
conf.modules as well.

Please don't take what I'm saying here as gospel... I don't have a
Iomega Zip drive so I have never tried to set one up.

If this doesn't sort out your problems, then ask the question:
"how do I get my <make/model> parallel printer _and_ my <model> Iomega Zip
drive to run under <distro/version> Linux <kernel version>?" ie be as
specific as you can... there's bound to be someone here who has a similar
setup to you who can help you out.

I hope I've been of some help to you...
