Hello, all!

this is not really a question but more a sorry tale of co-existing
operating systems, one of which is win95.

i needed more space for my linux native partition so i changed the linux
swap parition type to linux native and then made a swapfile. the swapfile
is not working properly yet but i am too anxious to go over to linux and
give it a go. so after doing that, i went back to win95 to do some work
and win95 said it had found new hardware- my mouse! so it installed the
mouse stuff and restarted.

i then was made to redo my password for the microsoft network, which
restarted windows. when windows restarted i was in 640x480 and 16 colours.
my video card was supposedly working but not to look at the screen. it
also did a scandisk and truncated my wavemix.ini file.

after backing up my PhD thesis and data files i thought i would just see if
win95 was using the generic S3 video driver. but no, i could change
resolution and colour depth but all my Asus display pages in the display
properties were missing. so it restarted and my video was fine and the
asus pages were back in the display properties window. but now my monster
3d pages in the display properties were 9and still are) missing.

also, i can use netscape and eudora etc., but i can't log onto my
departments network. also, all my avi/mpg programs refuse to work.

since i have to finish my thesis in 2 months or so i have given up on
fixing things and am just getting on with it. ;-0

all this from just changing the type of partition in linux and not even
changing the partition sizes etc.

well, hopefully i haven't bored you too much. and hopefully, anyone
considering putting both win95 and linux on the same partition will think
carefully before doing this. maybe buying two HDD's, one for linux and one
for win95, would be the way to go.

oh well, back to work. ;-)
