You need to run an X-windows server. When you installed Suse did you choose to
install XFree86? That is the name of the X windows server. Look in the HOWTO's
and look for Xfree86. You should find instructions there for how to set it up.
you need to make sure it was installed, then you need to edit the XF86Config
file, and a couple other config files, (.rc files).  You can do it by running
xf86config, or XF86Setup if you have it. You'll need to know the chipset of
your video card, and information about your monitor. Once you have it setup,
you'll need to choose a Window Manager. There will be default ones setup for
you most likely.
