What are you using for the boot loader?? LILO?? If it is lilo and the line
you saw was in /etc/lilo.conf
Yes, this is correct. "LILO"
Then when your computer is booting and you see LILO on the screen, hit the
shift key.
OK, the shift key. I should be able to access "dos" by keyboard.
I can also use fdisk to verify this, at this point.
This will allow you to type "dos" which according to your email
message is the keyword for the DOS partition on your hard drive. Another
way to find out if you have a dos partition on your disk, is to use fdisk
within Linux and view the partition tables. If you have a dos partition on
your drive, this should show it.
If I do not have a "dos" partition I'll have to re-partition my hard-drive in Linux to
load one. Do I need another partition for Win95?
If my assumptions are correct that line of text I had on my last message,
< dos / dev / hdc1 >
may refer to a second hard drive. <hdc1>.
If so, the computer had two hard drives at one point, before I inherited it. In any
case I'll sort it out. I've read most of the litterature, but I find it quite
confusing having using DOS for the last 15 or so years.
If you have LILO on your system and want to know more about it read the man
pages and the LILO-FAQ. If you need a copy of this, I will send it to you
as an attachment.
This would be helpfull, I don't believe I've printed this yet.
Thanks Timothy
