> Is there a program that allows to copy musical CD in a .wav format ?
www.mp3.com, then check the Linux section.
You'll need a program to 'rip' the digital audio from the CD and store it in a
playable format. .wav works, but is very expensive on disk space.
Compressing that .wav file into an .mp3 file will take a 40M file down to 3.5M
and play with excellent quality.
cd paranoia seems to work well for me for 'ripping' cds. The 8hz mp3
converter works but is extremely slow, and the l3enc program that has a 30
second demonstration version available also works well, but slow.
On Windows, MusicMatch can rip the digital audio from the cd and encode it
into mp3 in one--quick--pass. Let's hope something for Linux like this shows
up soon.
