get the cyrix patches (sunsite.unc.edu/pub/linux/kernel),
and cx should be fine. afaik amd's should work fine
(K6; K5 is an absolutely horrible misdesign).

alpha uses an entirely different cpu technique
(also different command sets), so it's no doubt
