My experience with HP Deskjets (693C in my case) is that, depending upon
the environment, they need to be cleaned every 3-6 months. The spot(s)
that need cleaning are unexpected and difficult to describe. In
desperation I called HP tech support and by the second time was talked
through the procedure. The HP693C works really beautifully when clean.
