I'm finally getting the time to learn Linux and what it takes to administer
Unix.

I did my printer, and HP-6MP, to work for both text and ps. But the next
day I tried to print some files to attack another problem and I kept getting
something to the effect of 'kernel: lp1 is out of paper' in
/var/log/messages. I did check that all the cabling was attached, the
printer was on, it had paper. I do have a ZIP drive in between, but that
never bothered things before (I don't have Linux set up for the ZIP drive
yet).

I did an 'lpc status', and 'no daemon present' for the lp printer. As I
understand it, that means the printer was not receiving anything from the
queue? Also, I have a 'lf' argument in the magicfilter pointing to a file.
But there were no errors listed there. It was actually blank. Perhaps this
is not set up correctly.

I do have it working again, but have no clue why. If this happens again, I
would like to be able to fix it.

Thanks!

Adrian
