Hardware advice - NIC Hubs and modem

Does anyone know what particular equipment (be as specific as possible)
would be best for linux ? I plan on purchasing some h/ware soon and ....


So if anyone has any ideas - preferably due to breezing thru your own
install please pass along the names of 
NIC and HUB 10 Mbps
Modem external 28.8 or 33.6

Also how good is the Hayes Accura?
