For those on a budget you could try D-link for NICs and hub, specifically
DE-220 ISA NICs (NE2000 compatible) and DE-809 hub. The hub is available 2
ways; 1 has 9 RJ45 ports with one switchable for an uplink to add more hubs.
The other has 8 RJ45 and 1 BNC that can be used either as a port or uplink.
