I use XMFTP, available at sunsite (check the Linux Software map
entry). It's a file manager style ftp program, like FTP
Explorer for Windows.

I agree with the GIMP and Staroffice, as others have mentioned.
I just got a copy of Word Perfect, which is a $ program, but as
such can provide you with faster print drivers direct from the
manufacturers. It's a 39 Meg download, however. I also
recommend TKDesk, which provides you with a very full featured
and configurable file manager, that can be set up to
automatically launch any app, and perform any tar/zip operations
with a click of the mouse. TCL/TK and TK Desk are available as a
Slackware package.

I've been able to locate almost everything I need for Linux
through the use of the LSM and Internet searches. One thing I
couldn't find was a news reader I liked. Nothing seemed to
compare to Forte Agent for Windows, so I installed wine
(stands for both windows emulator and wine is not an emulator)
and run Agent under Linux. Works great. I've got a few other
little windows apps (like Lview pro) which run fine under Linux.
None of the bigger programs, such as Word for Windows seems to
work, although I've heard some people have succeeded with them.
Perhaps your HTML editor could run? I have no idea, although
I can tell you that Win 3.1 programs have a much greater success
rate under wine than do Win95/98 stuff.

Are you aware that Netscape has a version of their Communicator
suite for Linux?
