On Slackware there is a script /dev/MAKEDEV and a binary /dev/MAKEDEV-C
that can be used to do this. In the same directory there are
README.MAKEDEV and README.MAKEDEV-C explaining their use. MAKEDEV will o
one or all. Maybe RH has this too. Something like 'MAKEDEV lp' should do
it--but check up on this suggestion.
