Sorry about the lack of
details.
Linux Pro 4.1a (from Workgroup Solutions) is a version of
Red Hat Linux. The instructions state to:
- create a partition (800 MB partition created on 2 GB
c-drive...Windoze 95 on other partition)
- format disk
- restore original hard drive
- from DOS, install Linux from CD-ROM (Creative Labs
Blaster IDE CD-ROM drive)
- steps until kernel panic:
-chose f: as CD-ROM drive
-no SCSI device
-no Ethernet device
-CD-ROM device chosen as IDE &
Sound Blaster with same results
-no other parameters specified (as per
instructions)
-tried to boot Linux
accordingly.......Kernel Panic
Hardware: I have an old PB Legend /c 120Mhz Pentium; 56 MB
RAM; c: 1.2 GB /c win95, d: 1.51 GB /c tons o stuff, e: 800 MB -- newly
formatted partition on c:
During install, I did notice a parameter file being
written to c:\RH303.PAR. Does this matter?
Your help in getting over this stumbling block (ie Great
Wall) will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill
