Hello to All;
I figure people on this list will have a better
idea than any other list. There is a very wide range
of experience on this list :-)
Has anyone on the list ever tried to install
Linux on a Compaq ProSignia 60/5 Server ?? I picked
this little 60mhz scsi eisa-bused based baby for next
to nothing but with no info.
I checked on their web site for tech info and it
is somewhat limited. I'm guessing the scsi interface is
an scsi-2 and it appears to be an 2100A interface (whatever
that is). I tried to do an autoprobe with all the scsi modules
available on the RedHat 5.1 install disk and none were recognized
except the NCRxxxx ( That's as close as I can remember I'm at work
and the box is at home - it was the first ncr scsi on the list) and that
one locked up the box, so maybe it's the one but I may need options.
That's only a guess.
Also it has a combo token ring/ethernet card and I would
like to know what this card is if anyone knows ie ne2000, ne2100, etc or
proprietary.
If anyone can help, great. If not, I'll figure it out somehow
and post the answers. These machines are becoming available at
a very low cost as larger companies are upgrading their servers.
At $50 to $100 bucks these are a great deal if the drivers are available
Thanks
JC
