Samba Problem?

I'd love a little help if anyone could give it to me here.

I have samba running on my linux box. I'm not very linux literate anymore,
but I'm good at following directions.  My box is named "fred".  If I load up
IE4.0 on my NT machine and type "fred" in as a url everything shows up just
fine.  I can ftp to fred and telnet to fred, but I can't @#$%% get fred to
show up in network neighborhood.  Did I do anything wrong?
