One thing that I can see is that you need a workgroup line in the global
area. Without this, Samba doesn't broadcast its presence to a workgroup
or Domain.... here is an example from my Samba server in an NT
Domain...

# Samba config file created using SWAT
# from 10.1.2.147 (10.1.2.147)
# Date: 1998/12/16 18:27:11

# Global parameters
        workgroup = DOMAIN
        netbios name = SAMBA1
        security = DOMAIN
        encrypt passwords = Yes
        password server = NT4
        username map = /etc/names.map
        local master = No
        wins server = 10.1.1.4

I have changed the domain name and computer names, but the rest is set
up exactly like on the samba server. You do not necessarily need a
username map, it will work with out one, but you must have unix accounts
that match your windows accounts if you don't. Also, I use swat to edit
the configuration, I find that it is probably the easiest way to
configure Samba.

Hope this helps.
