Slackware does indeed have that capability. In fact, my first Linux
install was onto an old 486 laptop using that method. Takes a long time
- mostly putting all the various bits onto the floppies - but it is
doable. Just not easily.

Not easily. I don't know about RedHat, but as I said above, Slackware
has the capability to install from numerous floppies. It can be gotten
from ftp://ftp.cdrom.com/pub/linux Then start downloading the parts you
need. It's a long list, so I'll not put it here. There are docs
avavilable on that ftp site that list all the bits you need and how to
go about putting them onto floppies. You will need an operating
computer to put the stuff onto the floppies, but not necessarily the
same computer you're going to install it onto. The one you sent your
message from would most likely be suitable if you still have access to
it.
I know that this does not quite answer your question, and for that I
apologize. I am not familiar with Red Hat, as I have not yet tried it.
However, as I am familiar with Slackware and know that it is capable of
installing by floppy I thought I would mention it. Whatever you wind up
choosing, I wish you luck with it.
