It is a matter of definition, I suppose. MetroX, Xi Graphics and XFree86
are implementations of the X Window standard, so in this sense, they are
the "same" GUI. In another sense, they are "different" GUIs because they
are produced by different companies or organizations. IMHO, it was the
window manager variety that confused the original poster.
