Hi all,
I have just encountered a very disturbing problem that I need help on. I
decided that I'd switch the WM to AfterStep, which I wanted to try out.
When I did this, X slowed *way* down on my system, and I thought that I'd
just hit the hotkey to quit the X server, and this did not work, it
effectively froze the system. By "froze," I mean that (A) the hard disk
light was stuck on, (B) the computer mouse was frozen, (C) the keyboard
(including the lights) was frozen, and (D), it stayed this way for a
half-hour.
Can someone please tell me how to change the X WM from outside of X, I
*really* don't feel like freezing the system again, only to wait 30
minutes before fsck is done checking my two hard disks.
