I am trying my hand at recompiling my kernel, and end with the
same error (1). It is something about my sound card. I have a
Legasy PNP BIOS, TX chip set, and my sound card is an ESS
1868, which is supposed to be supported (Caldera OLL).
I did make config, make dep, make clean, and it hangs on
make zImage. Question 1 is: What do I do then? None of the
docs tell you what to do if you goof! "Running Linux says," remove
the kernel source tree and start over." What exactly does this
mean?
Also, where do I find the information such as DMA, I/O address
and IRQ for my card? I dual boot Win 95, and I can't seem to find
that type of information. TIA.
