I got the same errors when I recompiled my kernel for the first time.  After
reading the last couple of posts I now understand what these errors mean,
as well as how to fix them.  Isn't there something you could do (or not
do) during a kernel rebuild that would prevent you from ever getting the 
below errors in ther first place?
