You don't need it.
Your qt is most likely the cause of the problem.
Do: rpm -q qt
I installed KDE from RH5.1 CD's, the qt version I got was qt-1.33-1rh4, for
Redhat 4, it did not work. Try:
ftp://contrib.redhat.com/libc6/i386/qt-1.42-1rh51.i386.rpm
That fixed it for me.
Another note: I found that running startkde from the command line gave similar
errors. I put "exec startkde" (no quotes) in my /.xinitrc file. Now doing
startx starts kde.
