Emacs giving a core dump is a totaly different problem that you have with
your video card.
To find out what is causing the problem with emacs i suggest you do;
gdb emacs core
bt
quit

It looks like your card is not recocnised properly. you could howevery try
to define it a a generic vga card in /etc/XF86Config.
