Can't help with Star Office, but Corel Word Perfect seems to work fine within some limits that seem pretty much the same with other windows WP programs conversion of MS Word. I can save a file in Word97 and load it into Linux Corel WP without problem. Sometimes the graphic layout isn't exactly right, but like I said, about what other word processors do with them. Moving them back is no problem. If I do a file in Linux and save it as a Word 6/7 then it loads without problem in MS word. Problem arises if I save a file in Word97 as a word 6 file. Linux WP then says it is unable to convert the file. I expect the double conversion from 97 to 6 and then back to WP just isn't there. I can import text files and save them as Word files and they load fine. I can also save them as AMI Word files and they load in Lotus fine. This works great, because Word doesn't convert Lotus files well, and the reverse is also true, but I can get it into Corel in Linux and save them into the correct format and everyone is happy. Applixware is a commercial program and I don't think you can get it free. Sorry. I'm using the free download, which I registered, and will most likely upgrade to get the other fonts and such later. I like the free download, had I not had the opportunity to see that it would work for me, I probably wouldn't have purchased it untried. Now I look forward to the other goodies to play with.
