for the xdm thing, there's a huge amount of spaghetti code, starting (I
think) with /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc which I just deleted and made 1 line
that said "startkde" which runs kde; for settings for ice U'd probably
want 2 look on from that file & the stuff it calls.
