That is what it says when I log in as my normal user. So I type whoami
and it says no user name for user 500 (?!). I have no idea where this
info is stored in RH5.0 so I go to the trusty control-panel in X (as
root) and the user manager says that user 500 has a name...I su to my
account and get the same thing...I have no [EMAIL PROTECTED] The only
thing that I have done is try to get into an irc chat room called #linux
and I was kicked off before I could type anything...for flooding (what
is that? irchelp.org never comes out and says so I can't figure out how
to stop doing it). I suspect the person that kicked me off was a bot,
but I am not sure. I was also disconnected from the internet shortly
thereafter and upon rebooting (prolly didn't need to do this, but I am a
recovering windoze junky) the rpc.mounted, rpc.mfsd and smbd daemons had
all lost their PIDs and were not stopped normally. (This is not the
first time this has happened, but this is also not the first time I
tried to get into that irc room)
Any light the group could shed on this very strange set of events would
be greatly appreciated since I am at a total loss.
