You probably have samba running. That's the SMB netbios server
for participating in windows networks. The configuration file should
be /etc/smb.conf.

You're already running it and it started up without being properly
configured. This is my one major security bitch about every distribution
out there. They install services without the user knowing what he's
installing (the install everything button should be BANNED) and they run
service prior to them being configured properly.

If you want to share services from your Linux box to your windows
boxes, you're started in the right direction. Read up on samba and then
edit /etc/smb.conf to get samba to behave the way you want it to. If you
DON'T want to be doing this, shut it down with "/etc/rc.d/init.d/smb stop"
(you should do this anyways until you configure it) and then remove
the startup links "rm -f /etc/rc.d/rc*.d/S*smb".
