I was all enthusiastic about getting slackware onto my system. Instead
it has taken all my night, and in the end left me nowhere.
This is the problem:
1. The primary controller of my motherboard is not working, because of
which I have my HD as a secondary master. I did a standard CD
installation, but when i got into setting up LILO, it couldn't set up my
MBR automatically (the setup most probably looks for /dev/hda, where my
hd can't help but be /dev/hdc), so I manually put the LILO on the boot
partition I made.
Everything seemed to be going pat, until the time i needed to reboot and
start my linux. If i started without a disk, the system would start, and
hang after printing on the screen:
LI
whereas it is supposed to do something like LILO.......
If i use the (highly recommended) boot disk, everything starts
functioning and the system is up and working a 100%.
I have tried quite a lot of workarounds, but to no avail. Anyone with
suggestions?
I will try the loadlin software too. Maybe if i install the LILO on
another partition?
Anyone?
