DOS interfacing with Linux

I recall reading about an old program called Desqview/X, that allowed a
user to run DOS/Windows/UNIX/X apps through a multitasking DOS program...
is there a freeware version of something like this available?  If so,
where can I get it?  I've looked and can't find a darn thing, and want to
see if I can get it to interface with my Linux.
