        Well... it depends.  For example rpm has an option for checking
pgp signatures if there is one built in - more details in the man page.
Else you sould get the pgp pack and compile it.  In the pgp man page will
find details on how to ckeck a pack.  For ckecksums, the best idea seems
to install (maybe you already have it) GNU test-utils.  There is cksum
which will make a POSIX CRC ckecksum, or md5sum which will make a md5
ckecksum.  They have man pages and they are documented as well in their
own info pages.  And if I recall well both have their own RFCs.  Tell me
about what you want to know more and I'll be more specific.
