There is a story on ZD-net (
http://www.zdnet.com/pcweek/stories/news/0,4153,387766,00.html ) about
a review of the 2.2 kernel. They state, "In the near future, however,
software programs that can take advantage of the new Linux will be few
and far between." Is this accurate? Do programs need to be rewritten
to take advantage of the new kernel? Does a new kernel break any
backward compatibility?
I wouldn't be surprised if they are dumb since they also said they
"had to use VI editor" to tweak settings and called this digging into
the source code...
Anyway, it received an Analyst's Choice, so that is good news.
