XFree86 menu

 Greetings everybody!

I just installed Linux on my computer here at home, after some little
problems. Can somebody help me? How do I customize the menu on XFree
(ie, the "start menu" equivalent from Windows)? I took a look at some
howtos about configurating X Window but found nothing.
