I have spent many hours deep in howtos and other documents but I
stuck and looking for help.

I am using RH5.2.

I have it installed and I have X running using WindowMaker. I have
several problems.

As the system boots, I see several messages go by saying that my
scripts for ppp had an unexpected end of file trying to find "" .
>From the desktop I can get my modem to dial and using minicom I can
get into the log on sequence with my ISP but it is very slow (i.e.
remmber 300 baud, it is slower than that I think) and I can't get
past the log on sequence.

I had heard that KDE had its own set up for ppp so I thought I would
download it. I got the new 1.1 rpms yesterday and moved them over to
a temporary folder in my home directory. From there I ran the
install scripts provided. While that is going along, I get a msg
that /opt/kde/share/toolbar/find.rpm conflicts with a file from
kpackage-1.0.01-1 That has me stumped. Deleting all of the files
and directories under /opt/kde doesn't seem to help. It follows by
saying it can't install the base package and then lists failed
dependancies.

I also get some messages during the boot sequence that complains that
sendmail has a problem with versions.

Is there a way to get Linux to print the startup msgs to a file and
to print the msgs on the kde install to a file so I can show them to
someone?

Thats where I am. Any suggestions?
