Sounds like the default route is misspecified or changing. What is the
output of the "route -n" command when PPP is active? When PPP is inactive?
(I don't know the details of the radio setup, but I assume it is always
active from the viewpoint of ifconfig -- if not, multiply the PPP examples
by 2 to show routing in all 4 possible cases.)
