Alias it's a shell internal command. So `man shell` will do the
job. Eventually search alias (lots of screens to read).

Well, I don't know how the new distributions look like. I run
RH4.2 (till I get a new hard disk and a SW CD). And things like grep,
find, head, tail are pretty obvious if you type `info` at the prompt. It
will show you a couple of pages with links to the basic Linux stuff. Than
I find it curious how come you didn't carefully read the man page of the
shell you are using.
