The RH5.0 and 5.1 versions of KDE used different compilers. I would go
to ftp.kde.org, or one of it's mirrors, and work your way down to the
Redhat 5.0 directory, ignoring everything in 5.1.

You probably don't need to sdk package, unless you're planning to write
KDE specific programs. You can always come back for it if you need it,
but I found the qt-devel package much more usefull and interesting, and
it's a requirement for KDE programming anyway.
