I have a 14GB disk on which I want to install Win98 together with Red
Hat 5.0. I have read that Linux may have problems with accessing large
disks where #cylinders > 1024 and I was wondering what suggestions you
have on partitioning the disk. Suppose I need about 1GB for Linux. Will
these partitions be successful:

first 13GB: windows 98
last 1GB: linux

or should I put the Linux root partition (incl. /boot) somewhere within
the first 1024 cylinders? And what about LILO, do I just install it and
leave it or do I have to dig into the lilo.conf file?

I have read a lot of HOWTOs and FAQs but they all seem a bit vague on
this specific question. The Red Hat 5.0 guide says "some BIOSes can't
access...data stored beyond cylinder 1023" and when I checked the user
manual for the mother board it seems to me that it can access all of the
14GB using LARGE mode....and the LILO HOWTO kind of avoids dealing with
the LARGE mode! So please give me some advice or further directions!

Thanks in advance,
Fred
