As i see it simply use lilo, you will need to tell lilo where the image is,
under redhat thats /boot so your lilo.conf should basicly look like;

/etc/lilo.conf
boot = /dev/hda
prompt
delay = 50
vga = normal # force sane state

image = /boot/vmlinuz-2.0.36
  root = /dev/hda5
  label = 2.0.36
  read-only

check image and label fileds chage them to reflect to your situation.

Then do;

lilo -v
it should produce something like
LILO version 19, Copyright 1992-1996 Werner Almesberger

Reading boot sector from /dev/hda
Merging with /boot/boot.b
Boot image: /boot/vmlinuz-2.0.36
Added 2.0.36 *

Thats it for linux, 'man lilo.conf' for more details on configuration, also
a look in your /usr/doc dirs, would help, theres a lot of "good" files for
lilo and its own directory contaning just about all answers to your
questions.
