Compiling errors list ?

Where do i look for the significance of compiling errors?  I'm triing to
compile the kernel to install the ppp protocol as explained in the how-to,
but i get some error 1 and 2 at the end of 'make zImage'.  Is there a list
coming with Linux for these compiling errors...
