I've learned how to configure runlevel 5 however I'm wondering if it's safe
to turn off the machine after logout to the gui login prompt.
I need to set this up for a user who will not have root access. There would
be times I would need her to turn off the machine. As far as I've gathered,
only root can perform a complete shutdown. In runlevel 3 anyone (at least
the way I'm configured) can shut down with ctrl+alt+del but I can't find a
way to do this except as root in runlevel 5.
I haven't been able to find documentation on a shutdown in runlevel 5. Is
there either a way for a non-root user to do this? .... OR is turning the
machine off after logout in runlevel 5 okay?
