This should be fine if your fstab is set correct. Your partitions/drives/mounts
can be anywhere you want them to be. A 1.2Gig drive should be ample for all of
your Linux needs, unless of course, you're in the habit of collecting MP3's.
I've got an 8.4Gig drive, and Linux positively echoes inside it.
