ZyXel modem

I have just bought an old ZyXel U-1496E external modem at an
auction.  Unfortunately, it came without its power adapter.
No manual either.  Can anyone tell me what sort of power
adapter this beastie needs?
I've already tried www.zyxel.com but can find no reference to 
the power adapter.  It does list a 1496 manual, which I downloaded,
but it's in pdf format and (for some unknown reason) my Acrobat
reader can't read it.

Can anyone help?
