Thanks for your reply. Well I hope APC sees the light soon, I write them and
ask them about it and they dont even reply, maybe if enough of us, sent them
emails that would see the light quicker. :)

You probably got an answer on this already.  APC apparently doesn't like
to share their serial communications protocol, but it was reverse
engineered.

I really like smupsd, which has a Java client to view the UPS
parameters.  We use both Powerchute for AIX systems and smartupsd for the
Linux server.  The smartupsd client is similar to xpowerchute's display.
We also use the UPS temperature to monitor room temperature trends and
page if the A/C fails.  The status logs for both Powerchute and
smartupsd are similar, but not quite identical.
