The most likly cause of that message is because you did not define the
mount-points correctly when Redhat tryed to create the file /etc/lilo.conf
or it did not get created at all.

Tell us which option you used and if redhat boots ok after the install. ???

If you cant boot linux then you can use the floppy which you used to start
the install to boot linux, at the first prompt type'

mount root=/dev/hdaX where X is the partition number containing the root
file system.

/dev/hda is the first H/D /dev/hdb is the second etc etc.

After the system has started you can then check the file /etc/lilo.conf and
take appropriate action.
