I'm still a pre-newbie having decided to wait to buy and install a
second hard-drive for Linux. However, in reading this list and related
material, I am fascinated by the Linux philosophy of making a free
operating system.

It seems to me that someone could apply this same philosophy to
anti-virus software - a program to scan, and a list of what to scan
for. Has it been done? IIRC, someone commented on this list that a
properly implemented linux installation was immune to viruses. Is this
true even when using linux to access a DOS partition?

I wouldn't mind paying once for a commercial anti-virus package, but
the ongoing cost of purchasing new virus lists never ends. Unless it
were available at Sunsite or Redhat :-).

Best,
Kurt Kehler
