Dear Folks,

I have two linux installations in operation right now, uncustomized
kernels, and no IPX or Appletalk or such burning up my peer-to-peer
network cable.

I find that, when I telnet or rlogin from one box to the other, in
either direction, telnet can take at least a minute to bring up a login
prompt. During this period I do not get any errors, and I can Ctrl-C to
abort the connection attempt.

When I am patient enough to wait for the connection to be established,
I find that the session operates as quickly as one would want.

Pinging is happening at a normal connection time, and I mounted NFS
volumes in both directions lickety-split.

I have seen this happen before, at an old place of work, but I never
saw a solution to the problem there.

Any ideas?
