I just installed Red Hat 5.0 last week, and I am having display problems when I run X Windows. The problem is rather hard to describe, but at 1024x768, it is manifest primarily as vertical white pinstripes on a black background that appear in horizontal bars across a window, or in a button on the taskbar. Things also get pretty messy when I move or resize windows. At 800x600 resolution, I have similar problems, but it's black dots on a green background instead of the pinstripes. For the record, I have an NEC Multisync VX15+ monitor (Hsync 31-65, Vsync 55-100, max res 1280x1024, a Cirrus Logic GD5434 video card (1MB RAM, SVGA) and am running on an AMD K6-2 266 with 32MB RAM. And I'm running Fvwm. I haven't seen anything about this in the XF86 howtos that I've read, nor in any newsgroups or on this list, so I hope someone will be able to help me with this.
