I had the same problem with my HP 694c... In Printtool, I changed the
setting for the printer resolution (dpi and color depth) to a higher value
and got it to work just fine. I don't remember what the setting is named
(I'm at work right now using "another" OS), but it's on the right hand side
of the configure dialog.
