KDE-lost at the FTP site

I have Slackware3.6 on my system.  Are KDE and Gnome only compatible with
Redhat?  I would like to download KDE if it is compatible with Slackware
but I kinda got lost at the FTP site...in terms of directories and packages.

Would I be able to install it from a harddrive partition?
