How do i use telnet tp copy files to my local machine.

I have telnet access to a foreing host computer and want to copy files from
that host to my local machine without setting up a ftp server or something like
that.  man cp   or man telnet has nothing on the subject and i can�t figure out
any other places to look. 

I don�t know why but the delay between me sending messages and the listserver
sending them out seems to be several hours so thats why some of my previous
messages maby seems a bit out of date. my apologies but it is beyond my power.
